Olivia Chainmaille Bracelet with Crystals and Beads

Create a beautiful bracelet with jump rings and sparkle and shine!

Olivia is a variant of the ever-popular Byzantine weave. It has little “windows” which are just perfect for adding beads or crystals. You can use 4mm firepolish beads, crystal rounds, druks or cube beads!

A very small amount of wire work (simple loops) is required for this project.

Type of class: Virtual. A few days prior to the class you will be sent an email containing the class instructions and the electronic link to the Zoom class. Once these instructions have been sent, refunds and cancellations will not be permitted.

Skill level: Enthusiastic Beginner/Intermediate

Prerequisite: Basic chainmaille skills. Knowledge of Byzantine weave is useful but not essential.

Have for class: If you don’t have rings in your stash, rings are available from www.theringlord.com or contact the teacher.

• Two pairs of pliers suitable for chainmaille.
• Wire cutters
• Round nose and chain nose pliers for making wire loops
• A single-strand clasp of your choice –lobster claw, toggle or magnetic.
• Saw cut anodized aluminum jump rings in your choice of colour:
•    18swg 5/32” (AR=3.4)
• You will need 280 rings for 7-½” of weave (length not including the clasp)
• 20 gauge wire (Parawire, Artistic wire or anything similar) in a colour to match or tone with the rings.
• 20 x 4mm beads or crystals – rounds, cubes, firepolish, etc. in a contrasting colour. (Note that bicones do not work very well for this project.)
