Arrivals & Departures: Serendipity Moments!

Who knew that arrivals & departures could be a result of serendipity moments? I certainly didn’t! In this case, I’m talking about our Toho Challenges. Not just 2024, but also 2023. Last year, the challenge was a BeadFX collaboration, between Marg, Dwyn, and myself. Our fearless leader (Marg), was the support, Dwyn beaded the butterfly, and I beaded, and stitched the base. It was a great collaboration! For this year, I only provided sneak peaks of my progress, but didn’t reveal the entire piece until it arrived in the US. It was hard to keep it so quiet! We were …

My Toho Challenge is Coming to a Close!

My Toho Challenge for 2024, is coming to a close! It’s so close, that I can almost taste it! Whoopee! Am I happy, or sad? Or, could I have mixed feelings? I talked to you about transitions last week, but hadn’t firmed up my plans. I ended up using Freeform Brick Stitch. It goes with the frolicking, fun, free nature of the piece. But I wouldn’t want to make it serious, or calm it right down, would I? The piece is quite light, but with it coming to a close, I wanted to figure out a unique ending. I thought …

Desperate Times Calls for Desperate Measures!

The term desperate times calls for desperate measures, certainly fits my current outlook. The Toho Challenge seems to be taking up most of my discretionary time, but I’m nowhere near the end. I’m shooting for next weekend, but it still might need some tweaking. But it’s not all bad news! Although, not even close to my original concept, my muse is leading me along a happy path. I do like what I’m doing on this year’s project, but I admit that it’s been having a few hiccups lately. The end is actually not that far away, but I need to …

Toho Challenge 2024 Peek!

Here’s another Toho Challenge 2024 peek! I’ve finished (or almost finished) my components, and now it’s time to string them all together. I’m at that scary stage, where I think that I know what I’m doing, but what if it doesn’t work out? Shudder! For joining, I’ve decided on freeform peyote. It’s versatile, and one of my favourite stitches. But as it’s just like a puzzle, it always takes time. Will I meet the deadline? Perhaps not, but I’m hoping that it’s a soft deadline, because I could really use a little more time. I plan on doing nothing else …

Yes – you too can play at the Toho Challenge! Come and join the fun. Toho Challenge 2024 – Let the games begin!

The Toho Challenge 2024, is going to be a challenge for sure! The official colour release happened last Friday, and I’m so happy to be able to share a few teasers with you. The colours are quite joyful! The theme for this year’s challenge is “Let the Light Shine In”, inspired by the beauty of stained glass. It reminds me on this old quote that I pinned up on the wall years ago, “Blessed are the cracked for they shall let in the light” (Author Unknown). It’s a case of let the games begin for both Dwyn, and I as …

Development of a Project: Let the games begin!

The development of a project is a bit of an oddity! It can be annoying, disturbing, creative, headache inducing, just plain wonky, or all of the above! So, when I say “Let the games begin”, I really do mean it. The colour release for the 2024 Toho Challenge is set for Friday. I won’t be giving you any hints before then. The colours are very different from last year, so let the adventure begin! Both Dwyn and I are working on separate projects, so the games are going to be totally different this year. I can’t speak for Dwyn, but …
