Blowing Away the Cobwebs!

Blowing away the cobwebs, is something that I had to do this weekend. My mind told me enough, so I needed to relax, kick back, then straighten out my thoughts. First, I paid attention to my priorities, then I had to decide what I was going to do with my weekend time. I must confess that I wasted one whole day (Saturday), but was it really a waste? Or, did my body just tell me that it was necessary? I think so, because my day involved snacking, napping, reading, then a bit of TV. Boring, but it did help to …

Not a Bead in Sight!

Not a bead in sight, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t still love them! All it means is that I’ve been otherwise occupied, as you’ll see below. A friend of mine, introduced me to Neurographic Line Drawings (here’s the video I followed), and I’m obsessed with the process! It’s addicting! I will let the drawings speak for themselves, but will refine the process over time. Who would have thought, that I’d actually find a bug in my drawing? It crawled right out, then begged for glitz, and attention!! LOL! Over at the Stitch Meditation Facebook group, I put up …

Reflections and Recollections: The time is now!

Reflections and recollections have been on my mind lately. But what does that have to do with the cost of beads, you say? Not much, but it’s a good opening act, so now I’ll get down to fleshing it all out. I’ve been dithering about during this pandemic, yet it might be time for me to start working on my mixed media jewelry again. Oh, I’ve been playing with this, and that, but mainly work of an ephemeral nature, so nothing that I could make into a collection. I was reminded of this, when I received an email from my …

July 2020 Bead Mat Update: Another mixed bag!

This July 2020 bead mat update, just about knocked me on the head! But how did it get so late in the year, and what will we do when summer is over? Well, with the heatwave that we’ve been having in Toronto, I’d say that cooler weather will be a welcome change, but then it’s human nature to complain about the weather, no matter what it’s doing. Last year, had so much rain, that at least one of the Lake Ontario beaches was closed, for most of the season. Now we have stinking hot, and a pandemic to deal with. …

June 2020 Bead Mat Update: Beads, stones, and fibre!

June 2020 bead mat update, is a mix of many things, but all of them are colourful! When I think June, it’s the end of school, and the beginning of summer, but that’s gone all wacky on us this year. Summer started early, with a series of hot spells, yet no school days, except the home school variety. It’s definitely a different start to the vacation season. Speaking of vacations, the cottagers will still be heading north (or wherever), and the rest of us will probably be vacationing in place. Sigh! Speaking of hot spells, I’m still waiting for my …

Stitching and Straying!

Stitching and straying is a pretty funny title for a blog post, but is it? My creative spurts seem to be going in many different directions, so is it any wonder that I’m straying from the beading path? I guess that I should show you the only beading that I’ve been working on, my “Dancing” pandemic piece. As I’ve mentioned before, this piece came to me in a dream, has no end date, yet doesn’t know what it wants to be when it grows up. But it is a welcome distraction, uses up stash, and definitely serves to keep me …

May 2020 Bead Mat Update: A study in contrasts!

May 2020 bead mat update, is definitely a study in contrasts. The world is starting to open up, but we’re all holding our breath, to see which way the tide will turn. Fingers, toes, and everything else crossed, that all will be well! This is a brand new world, and we need to adjust to it! Everything still feels pretty grey, but I’ve decided to continue to experiment, then paint my personal world with colour! Why do that, you say? Well, I’m the eternal optimist, cannot bear to watch the nightly news, but then tend to read all about it …

April 2020 Bead Mat Update: I’ll keep on dancing!

My April 2020 bead mat update, is a bit of a mess! Something old, something new, something paper, then a bit of resin. I dreamed about a freeform peyote project, that had no particular point, no timeline, definitely colourful, but needed to use up some of my leftover beads. This is the start! I reach for this project, when I need a distraction from the stresses of our new normal. But that’s not all! It keeps both my mind, and my hands occupied, while using some of the leftover bits and pieces in my stash. Isn’t that perfect? There is …

Beaders Gotta Bead!

Yes, beaders gotta bead, but in my case, do all sorts of other stuff as well! Dwyn did razz me about it, in last week’s update, but I confess that she’s not entirely wrong. I’m happy to see that she introduced the new Creative Art Pigments, so that gave me a chance to mess about! No, I did not buy up all the powders, but I did purchase my fair share. But in my defense, so did Amanda, and I expect that Dwyn has squirreled away a few as well. I hinted about these products, in last week’s post, then …

Resin Dreams: What’s that you say?

Resin dreams are a subject that I’m a little reluctant to talk about. It’s definitely mixed media focused, but I realize that not all beaders are interested. It’s not like I want to leave some of my readers out of a post, but I do need to talk about my other passions. Close your eyes, if you’re just not interested! Resin is something I fell into, just like most of you. I took a class, then decided to explore a little more. With my normal obsessive behaviour, I researched the subject, then decided to develop my own class. No, I …
