(Components list at bottom of page)

This is the therapy bracelet for all the type A's out there that feel an overwhelming need to control everything. Your assignment is to create a multi-strand bracelet with a random assortment of beads. Yep - random. Can you stand it?
--
This started with the Dog Tooth Amethyst - I got a strand of the 4 mm rondelles, the 6 mm rondelles and the 6 mm faceted rondelles. I wanted to add a bit of sparkle - so I went digging through my left-over Swarovskis. Yeah - I have left-over Swarovskis.
I decided that the Light Amethyst and the Violet Swarovskis looked the best with the Dog Tooth Amethyst, and that the Amethyst crystals looked good too, in limited quantities, and even some pearls and Black Diamond and the Violet Opal - and of course, clear crystals - but they go with everything. But the Tanzanite did NOT work in the colour scheme. Just the wrong sort of purple.
After completing four strands, - I realized that I was going to run out of beads - so I had to dig up some more crystals. The last two strands added are heavier on the crystals. Fortunately - I didn't add them to the clasp in order - I skipped loops and came back and added strands in. The loops on this clasp are closer together than the width of the beads, so I knew I was going to need some leeway to get them to all settle in together.
So my choices of beads, size and shape combos is eclectic, to say the least!
When calculating how many beads you need (for this or any other project), don't forget that Google has a conversion and a math function. This bracelet is 8.75 inches long, but part of that is clasp and crimps, so the actual length of the strung beads is 7.75 inches - so if you type "7.75 inches in mm" in the Google search bar, it will tell you that is 196.85 mm. If you then type "196.85 * 6" in the search box, it will tell you that the total is 1181.1 mm. So, if you wanted to make a 6 strand bracelet out of all 4 mm beads, you could calculate that as "1181.1 / 4" and get 295.276 beads, or about 300. If it was all 6 mm beads, it would be 196.85 or about 200 beads. If you wanted an even split, think of half the bracelet as 4 mm beads (196.85 * 3 = 590.55) / 4 = 147.64 and the other half as 6 mm, 590.55 / 6 = 98.43, or about 150 4 mm beads and about 100 6 mm beads. If you wanted some bigger accent beads, you could then add about a dozen 8 mm beads (2 per strand) and go with about 140 x 4 mm beads and about 95 x 6 mm beads.
So feel free to make your own "bead soup" from the beads you have left over from another project(s), and try something random today!
BTW - I tried to be accurate in the count of beads that I list below that I used, but seriously - I would get a few extras, just in case I missed some when counting.
